Musician Natalia Lafourcade inspired this piece with her incredible music. Her latest albums represent Mexico and the beauty of the folklorico roots, spanish baladas, mariachi, and acoustic guitar. I was enchanted by the variety of topics she spoke about in her songs. I feel that her songs could have easily represented Frida's life and her pride in being a strong Mexican woman. The particular song I was listening to that carried my imagination for this creation was called "Soy lo Prohibido" (I am the Forbidden). The song, her lyrics, made me think of Frida in the sexy manner in which she most likely was seen by her lovers. It describes a relationship that should not be happening, but it does, because it's irresistible; "an adventure that should not be spoken of"... Whether you understand the lyrics or not; I assure you the melody on its own is glorious and soothing. Natalia's voice is soft, sweet, and extremely relaxing to listen to. I can not recommend it enough.

Style choice: this was a quick study, unplanned. A perfect example of "going with the flow". I had completed it black and white at first with hints of red, brown and purple washed down acrylics. The next day, I decided to take out the gold and bronze paint and to submerge myself in the music again. This was the result. LOVE. Love for music, Frida, Natalia, MY CRAFT.
