Musician Natalia Lafourcade has many songs in her new albums that speak about her Mexican roots and specifically Veracruz- the land where she was born. Her words are incredible, I can't begin to describe the many phrases that I absolutely fell in love with. She is able to make anyone appreciate the beauty of Mexico and Spanish acoustic music. Listening to her albums, made me think of Frida's roots; her colors which were sometimes dark and at times bright. I wanted the most classic representation of Frida that we all think about when her name comes up, therefor her hair is in her traditional style with flowers and a very festive dress. The cigarette makes her look carefree to me and a bit rough around the edges.

Style choice: I utilized the fashion illustration style, with minimal focus on the face and elongated body. The background was a messy combination of India ink and Acrylic ink. I also used some metallics. This painting was the most messy and fun to make of all my pieces.
