Frida has become the symbol of Mexico. My plan at first was to include her in the traditional Mexican flag emblem holding the snake and having the eagle rest on her shoulder, but it didn't look as grand as I pictured. I made changes to the piece making the cactus and Frida a lot larger scale and this quote really resounded in me as I read and studied her journal.

Style choice: Paint pouring is a technique that I learned about two years ago from my husband William. He is a curious man who holds a framing job at Michaels craft store and often encourages me to try new things in art. Still not an expert; the paint cracked as it dried, therefore it was sealed prior to photos.
