I love fashion illustration. When I was in Middle School and High School I aspired to be a fashion designer but when I went to the Art Institute of Phoenix I saw that I didn't belong with the rest of the girls. They were very much into their appearance which was the way to Market themselves and I simply wasn't. A funny fact about me is that I have never liked monkeys but Frida owned a monkey named Coco and I knew I wanted to include her somewhere and this was the perfect piece to display her pet as an accessory but also hold each other with care. In Frida's Journal there was a quote that I liked very much but it's hard for me to translate and it had to do with spots being alive and giving life, like blood, ink, and odor which is the one that throws me off but nonetheless I really liked it. Here I took advantage of the smoke smudge in the cigarette to imply that spots are alive.

Style choice: this was a quick study, unplanned. A perfect example of "going with the flow". Having purchased new blues and greens, I started by applying those colors on the left to see their differences and then I let my imagination go in a fun flowy way with watered down acrylic. This is very lose, kind of abstract and extremely fun.
